The Gerudo Highlands is a new region introduced in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that features stunning mountain landscapes and hidden secrets. One of the main objectives in this area is unlocking the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower, which allows you to survey the region from an elevated point.
However, reaching and unlocking the tower is no easy task. A snowstorm has blocked off access, and you’ll need to complete a multi-step quest that takes you through rugged terrain and puzzles. This comprehensive guide will walk you through everything you need to know to gain entry and reactivate the Gerudo Highlands Tower.

Prerequisites
Before beginning the quest to unlock the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower, we recommend:
- Having the Paraglider to traverse terrain
- Cold resistance armor or elixirs to withstand frigid temperatures
- Stamina vessels to climb and glide long distances
- Puzzle-solving weapons like the Magnesis Rune
- Stocking up on healing items and weapons
Finding the Tower
Your first objective is pinpointing the tower’s location through a map coordinate left behind by a Rito explorer named Bilson.
Locating Bilson’s Note
The initial clue can be found by travelling to the coordinate -0249, 0095, 0021
in your map. This will lead you to a small encampment with a treasure chest and unlit campfire.
Open the chest to find Bilson’s Note, which states:
“I spotted a tower in the distance to the east before the storm trapped me here. I wanted to press on and investigate, but these extreme conditions made it too dangerous to continue. I’ve stored some extra supplies in a cave nearby in case any other poor soul gets stuck out here like me. May the light illuminate your path, my friend.”
Following the Path East
With note in hand, head east from the abandoned camp to find a path leading up into the mountains. You’ll need to overcome several icy obstacles and battles against cold-weather enemies, so prepare with cold resistance food or armor.
After a grueling hike, you’ll eventually reach a high point overlooking the tower in a distance. Bilson was right – the way forward to the tower has been completely sealed off by snow and ice.

Accessing the Sealed Tower
Gazing at the obscured tower, you’ll notice some wooden scaffolding and construction materials peeking out from the snow. This provides a clue that you’ll need to locate the supply cache Bilson left behind.
Finding the Hidden Cave
Turn around and glide west down the high peak to land on a small outcropping along the mountain face. Follow this south to discover a hidden cave covered in ice. This is where Bilson stored the extra building equipment.
Use bombs or Cryonis to break through the ice and enter the cave.
Building a Raft
Inside the cave, open the Treasure Chest to obtain Bilson’s Construction Bundle. This contains lumber, nails, and other supplies for constructing access points.
Exit the cave and climb back up to the high overlook facing the tower. You’ll see a river emerging from the frozen blockage sealing the tower’s entrance.
Use the construction materials to build a raft. Once assembled, hop onto the raft and let the river carry you towards the tower.
Clearing the Snow
After a few minutes on the raft, you’ll arrive at the base of the immense snow pile covering the tower. Look right to see the wooden scaffolding barely poking out.
Dock the raft here and climb the scaffolding. At the top, you’ll find a huge, grated metal door blocking entry into the tower itself.
Equip Bomb Arrows and destroy the metal grate to reveal the tower’s interior. Then activate Cryonis on the snow pile to gradually reduce its mass and density.
Keep using Cryonis until you carve a tunnel enabling you to simply walk right into the Gerudo Highlands Tower.

Activating the Tower
Inside the tower, climb the spiral staircase to the top control terminal. Interact with the Sheikah pedestal to manually activate the tower.
After a few moments, the tower will begin glowing blue, connect to the Shiekah network, and emerge from the snow – unlocking the entire Gerudo Highlands region on your map.
Uncovering Tower Secrets
With the tower now accessible, speak to the Sheikah Monk Poqqo to receive the Tundra Mantle. This armor protects against freezing temperatures – perfect for exploring the brutal cold of the Gerudo Highlands.
Before leaving, glide down from the exterior balconies of the tower to find several treasure chests hidden under the snow. Uncovering them nets you rare Ice Arrows, gems, and the powerful Blizzard Rod.
Conclusion
Unsealing and unlocking the Gerudo Highlands Tower requires perseverance through snowstorms, puzzle-solving, and braving rugged landscapes. But overcoming these obstacles grants you an invaluable vantage point and powerful gear for facing the region’s icy trials. Check every nook and cranny around the tower to uncover secret chests before paragliding off towards your next objective. Stay warm out there!
